This year is the 18th annual 9 Mile Festival, formerly known as the Caribbean Festival, presented by Bob Marley Movement of Jah People on Saturday March 12th, 2011 at Bayfront Park, 301 N. Biscayne Blvd. Downtown Miami, FL. The festival's name is inspired and in honor of the life of Bob Marley; 9 Mile is a village in Saint Anna Parish, Jamaica where the legend was born. Along with being an annual concert it doubles as a humanitarian effort to feed the hungry, each attendee is required to bring canned goods upon admission. The cans collected will be forwarded to Curley's House which is an organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for low-to-moderate income individuals and families, the elderly, youth at risk, the abused, and HIV/AIDS infected members of the community by providing them with bulk food product. The festival has collected over two million cans since it has began. The event is hosted by Michael Winslow star of the Police Academy movies, Lance-O of Kulcha Shok Muzik and Vanessa James. Also, Special Guest appearance by Gramps Morgan.
