Adele "21"

Rumor has it, Adele is presently the hottest soul singer in the music industry, but just because we said it doesn’t mean that we meant it. Take out some time to listen to her and find out if this rumor rings true or not, as far as we can hear it’s true though. It took us long enough to catch on to the sensational neo-soul artist out of the UK over here in the western hemisphere. Her first album entitled “19” was released in 2008 and it started a craze in UK, debuting at number one on the charts. The album features hits like “Chasing Pavements” and a favorite by many “Hometown Glory.” It took three years for Adele to release a sophomore effort and the long wait is obliterated by the performance Adele delivers on “21.”

More After The Jump.

After listening to “21”, fans of Adele almost forget how long the wait was for a second album and new comers are immediately drawn in. The robust opening track, Rolling In The Deep, instantly captures the listener’s attention. The up beat melody with a heavy drum based production is contagious and could not have been a better start for the album. The song is of ones reminiscent thoughts of a past love that could have been perfect, and you can hear Adele pouring her heart out on the chorus making you believe that these words are true emotions straight from her soul. The album hits you with another upbeat track right after the opening, then segue’s to a slower, “Turning Tables.” Anyone who has been hurt in a previous relationship already seeks refuge in this song, with the lyrics “I won’t let you close enough to hurt me”, and no one wants to do that after already being hurt. It’s clear that Adele wrote this album in response to a painful break-up with the lyrics, emotions, and overall feel of the album.
Its difficult to seclude specific standout tracks on the album because the short track listing of eleven has very few flaws, if any. “Set Fire To the Rain” she sings of the control that was over her in a relationship that she eventually overcame, and there is no need to be redundant about her vocal performance, because Adele puts on a show on every track. 21 continues on perfectly every song touching you but the 3 closing songs of the album are especially noteworthy. The melody change toward the ending of “One And Only” make for a great musical touch to the track, it slows down for the perfect transition into “Lovesong” where Adele proclaims to a lover that her love will never fade no matter what. The closing track, “Someone Like You” was a very personal track for the songstress. It’s a song about her ex, but there is no lashing back. She is merely giving credit where it is due, commending him as a great man and hoping for someone similar in the future. No blame, no negativity, just putting an end to the chapter; “…. I wish nothing but the best for you…. sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead….”

Adele most certainly delivers on this album. After a long 3 year wait a fan is easily fulfilled by this album. She poured her heart out into these songs, giving of herself by exposing her feelings after a painful breakup. It’s said that after a breakup produces the best music, Adele proves it on her album “21”. Pay close attention to Adele, if she continues on like this she will be here for years to come. It’s great to see someone in our age bracket doing great things like this, providing hope for the many dreamers. If you are a fan of great music go and pick up “21”
